Hi there readers! It's been a while coming, in between illustrations, and being on call for grandchild sitting, which is,of course, a priority! Finally here is a little catch up on what's been happening since Logan BookFest and my very new hobby!๐๐
Honestly though, where does the time go??
As you know from reading my few, previous posts, I am a children's book illustrator, working with a lovely group of writers, called
"The Ten Penners!"
Launching our long awaited, first collaborative Children's Adventure book, named "Backyard Beasts & Curious Capers", in 2024 which I happily illustrated and wrote three stories in.

My duties don't end there. I also create illustrations for two authors who specialize in different genres of children's books.
Brian Dale, writes delightful adventure stories for young children. I've been collaborating with Brian for over 11 years, and have just completed illustrating his third book, the second in a series, where the Dingbat family gets into all sorts of mischief! You may recall, our first book together was in 2017, "Charlie the Cheeky Spider" which is a charming story about the misadventures of a tiny very cute but cheeky jumping spider. Place your order Here!
Following that, the Dingbat family appears in the first book of a series titled "Rule the School," which was released at the end of 2024. the story begins with the Dingbat Children attending a new school, "Hazelwood College", and quickly realise that not everything is as it seems. They soon find themselves witnesses to, and a part of bizarre and unexplainable situations, taking on the challenge of unraveling the mysterious occurrences. Arnold Van Der Vegt, this is where my illustration style altered to a very different audience. The author he had written a book for young adults, (AKA- YA novels). I am thrilled to announce I host Adult Paint and Sip Parties! & Children's Paint Parties! ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐จ๐ท๐โค๏ธ
Yes, as of three years ago, although I love illustrating something lead me to the fork in the road and I took the curved path of FUN! I was asked if I could host and instruct people at a Fundraiser Paint & Sip Party, I had never attempted one before, but I said yes! And I am so thrilled I did! ........I took the path that to me said let's have tons of fun with people and paints! Make people forget their troubles and make them smile, dance, laugh and paint so that's exactly what I am doing! I love what I do! Meeting new people and giving them a fun party celebrating their special events, makes me smile too, I'm out of the house moving, mingling, laughing and teaching! What more could I ask for? Best part is that I come to you - with everthing needed for the painting.
All you need to do is supply some food and invite your guests.
BYO drinks is entirely up to you.
Adults - Birthday parties, Team building events, Girls nights out, Luncheons, Bridal showers, Church get together fundraisers, Club Events.
Children's - Birthdays, Dancing clubs, sports clubs the sky's the limit! Each event is different, and catered for you. So there you have it this is what my life has been occupied with over the last three years along with the illustrating. With both adult and childrens' parties behind me I can't wait for this year to be busier with so many more. My Look book has a large range of painting choices to suit your theme or we can create a personlised one for you.

And that's a wrap for another year. Logan BookFest 2025 is done and dusted.
The Ten Penners were in full swing, and I must say, our corner had the most energetic and enthusiastic vibe in the entire hall! We laughed and chatted with people as they approached, wishing everyone a cheerful Merry Christmas. Being the only ones with Christmas decorations and wearing Santa hats or Elf ears, we were impossible to miss. We had such a fun day that we didn't even notice how quickly the time passed. New connections were made, sales were achieved, and everyone had a great time!
Wrapping up the day with a delicious BBQ at a team member's house. What a fantastic way to conclude the day. Thanks to everyone who joined us!

As for my KIDS Paint Party Workshop, it was a hoot, and a complete success! A Fun filled day and lots of buzz. With Plenty of happy little smiles and pride in their artwork, especially leaving with lollipops and bubbles. ๐
Best part was presenting one of the children with her winning prize of our Backyard Beasts & Curious Capers books and more sweets. ๐
Painting is my first love, teaching it to children and adults is the rewarding side of art. Bringing colour and life into others sketches or doodles is the most rewarding of all. After a very busy week of moulding, painting and sculpting her Tree Mail stump the very talented Liv Lorkin ( another of out Ten Penners team) was excited to lead her little freinds in a colourful and creative Postcard Workshop where they could drop their creation into the very special Mail Tree. The children loved every minute spent creating their postcards. More happy little vegimites!

Not forgetting onother of our talented team who had as much fun as her onlookers did. Tenille demonstrated badge making at her table where the children coloured in precut circles and created their own personalised badges. Needless to say this too was a huge hit!

Thank you to the wonderful Carly Been, one of our Penners and a staff member at BOOKS etc Paradise Centre, Surfers Paradise, for helping set up and provide the best venue to introduce our book to the public Saturday 14th October.
We, The Ten Penners, (who are really six) had a wonderful time with book signings, talking to customers and selling our very special children's adventure book. So much TLC went into creating this book for the children, honestly our hearts and souls are in this book!
I myself am overly excited, as you may already know from reading my previous posts, because not only have I illustrated the entire book, I have written three stories in this book being my very first to be published. Making this all the more a tick โ off that Life List for me. My next goal is to create an entire children's picture book, being a grandma of four under 7 you can understand why I want to follow that path.
It wouldn't be a launch day without some of the team introducing their characters.
Wearing the appropriate costumes like - Floriece the clumsy Witch, Jeremey the-want-to-be Astronaut and Dandelia the Pixie P.I. Came along to join in the fun of the day! Creating some very curious antics and capers of their own with some very curious children watching on.

My very first customers of the day were two beautiful friends that came along to show their support and graciously bought a book each. I am so grateful to all who have bought a book so far, both at the store and pre-sales prior to the release of the book.
