Hi

This is Me!

Who am I?

I was born to Maltese parents in 1958, raised in Melbourne, Australia, the eldest of three children I grew up in an artistic and creative environment provided by my father where my childhood was spent with a sketch book, drawing and painting anything that came to hand.

Architecture & Design

Influenced as a teenager by countless hours analysing building designs with my father, for our own pleasure, a growing fascination with buildings and their design expanded into a profession in Architectural drafting and design, when I graduated in 1982 from RMIT (The Royal Melbourne University), in Victoria. With perspective drawings, particularly renderings, taught by then lecturer, Melbourne based Pen and Ink Artist, Robert W. Gill,  my enthusiasm and passion to draw opened an exciting and fascinating world where I relished in absorbing knowledge, not only in Architecture and design, but in the art of perspective renderings.

Studying with Fine Art Artist Brin Jones

1994, over a decade later, with my husband, three children and a move up north to the sun bleached shores of Queensland, I once again reconnected with my passion for paint. Being introduced to The Brin Jones School of Fine Art in Southport where I entered my first exhibition in 1995 featuring student’s art from the Brin’s School. Sadly, In 1996, shattered at the news of Brin’s sudden death, I packed my brushes away, concentrating solely on my family, and returning  back to the Architectural workforce. While still entering my finished artworks into various exhibitions with some grateful sales.

Two years later I returned to painting.  Working solely in Graphite and Acrylic on illustration Boards, and Scratcher Board as Brin had taught. Seeking to expand my watercolour techniques, I enrolled into a part time Tafe short course taught by Gold Coast Water Colour Artist Diana Cook.

My passion to paint continued to re-emerge at various periods throughout my life, even moving into teaching my own art classes enabling me to share my skills with those searching for a new outlet in their lives.

So what am I doing now?

Whoever said retirement was quiet and boring!!

Unexpectedly, in 2015 my versatility veered me into the world of illustrating Children's Books. Collaborating with authors and creating illustrations that bring their stories to life. A magical feeling I never had anticipated, especially now that I am a grandmother .

To add to my wide art scope, apart from illustrating Children's Books, here's another unexpected path I was introduced to.
I now teach Step by Step FUN painting at the newly popular Paint and Sip Parties!

A complete turn around from my Fine Art past, and I love every minute of it.

The laughter, the contact and fun with a variety of people who attend every paint party event have fulfilled and completed my life.
